Re: Weird word count bug in TextMaker 2024

Even more peculiar, regarding contractions:

Both "can't" and "don't" count as two words.

one two three can't five six.

and

one two three don't five six.

report as seven words.

But while "don't" is a contraction for two words, "can't" is a contraction of one word: "cannot." If I change "can ...

Re: Weird word count bug in TextMaker 2024

Thank you for tracking this down. It happens that I recently entered a writing context, too, and I found that the word count reported in TextMaker didn't match up with the word count reported by the web site the contest uses as its official word count judge. Now I know why.

SoftMaker, please fix ...

Re: Page Numbers in Chapters that appear in left/right pages

When there are blank left-hand pages so new chapter begin on a right-hand page (which is the correct way to format books), the blank left-hand pages should NOT have any header, footer, or page number. They are BLANK.

Re: Track Changes in TextMaker?

Note: If you use the Classic menu (which I prefer), Track Changes is found on the Tools menu:

Tools > Changes > Track Changes.

Re: Hyperlinks not recognized

That worked -- thank you.

It's more than a little counter-intuitive. It's not necessary to switch to a different tool in Adobe or FoxIt.

Hyperlinks not recognized

I have a small newsletter that was created in Microsoft Word and converted to PDF using Word's native export-to-PDF function. One of the articles includes three hyperlinks to web pages. The hyperlinks work properly in Adobe Reader XI and in Foxit Reader, but they do not work in FlexiPDF 2022. Is ...

Re: Reset character formatting button on the Home tab

That's not what the Reset button in the character formatting dialogue does, but I don't know how to properly explain its function.

If you want to return the formatting to the Normal style, you need to change the style to "Normal," not reset.

I will pass your suggestion about a manual to our product management team...

If you want me to explain any of the features you find confusing, let me know.

I don't even know what the features are -- because there is nothing anywhere that tells me what the features are. All I know is that it's ...

Re: Save my own template

Open the character formatting dialogue. (I use the Classic menu, so I can't tell you where that is on the ribbon.)

Change the font and size to Palatino and 16-point.

At the bottom, click the button for "Set as Default."

This will open another pop-up, that asks if you want to make it the default ...

Re: Windows font manager?

I have posted previously that the font manager needs a user manual. It is NOT "pretty self-explanatory." In fact, it is not at all self-explanatory. I bought the Megafont NOW collection several years ago so I have the font manager and I have tried to use it. How it works and what it does is ...

Re: Windows font manager?

With respect raittis.veksejs, your reply did not answer my question.
To repeat my question:

I noticed that SoftMaker Office Universal says it includes a font manager for Windows fonts. Where can I find more information on this font manager and how it works? Is it the same font manager that's ...

Windows font manager?

I just received the "Black Week" e-mail. I noticed that SoftMaker Office Universal says it includes a font manager for Windows fonts. Where can I find more information on this font manager and how it works? Is it the same font manager that's included with the MegaFONT Now collection? I have that, I ...

Re: Training Courses?

I am not aware of ant training courses. There also isn't much to be found on YouTube, which surprised me. I have thought about doing some YouTube tutorials for TextMaker.

That said, the basic work so similarly to Microsoft Word that I haven't found much difficulty at all. However, I should not that ...
