Can't keep sidebar closed!

Using FreeOffice TextMaker 2024 (rev F1222.1129) 32bit. Everytime I open it, the sidebar is displayed. I have been using this software for around 10 years. I only require very rare use and will never purchase any office app due to this. Since updating to this version, I can no longer hide the sideba...

Using FreeOffice TextMaker 2024 (rev F1222.1129) 32bit.
Very slow opening large documents. Specifcally, converted from PDF. Takes up to 20 secs to open a 34MB file.
