Well having spent a cosiderable amount of time trying to resolve this issue, I purchesed TurboPrint and all seems to work correctly now.

Stange in that i've never had printing problems with any other application.

As I said in my post, printing a PDF file is not a problem. The problem lies in the choice of output from within TextMaker. You've either PDF or POSTSCRIPT output to the printer.

I'll see about different drivers and also try a different printer.
