hierarchical numering - I can't do it, why?

FreeOffice TextMaker 2024 (rev F1230.1206) 32bit - I cant get hierarchical lists to work. I can get a full list of level-1 headings OK, and I can get the level-2 texts between the headings to re-start numbering and list OK too. What I can't find is how to add the level-1 number code at the start of the level-2 number.

example: 5, paragraph 5 (level-1), but next lines go 1.1 subpara 5.1 then 1.2 subpara 5.2 (level 2). I edited the numbered list and ticked "Display higher levels", which did nothing. I looked for a field that I could insert in the "Numbering text" box of the numlist, but couldn't find one.

How do I do this?

Please select numbered list instead of numbering which is just beside to each other and don't put anything manually which interrupt the automated process of numbered list.

Dissregard the fact that I use the classic menu system. The dialoge box should be the same.

yes ik, I did that right, as you show. Both the user-guide and your example only show level-1 hand-down. That always works. It's the nexr level I have a problem with. I attach two files. The larger one was imported as .ODT and hierarchy works. The small test one written in TM doesn't, levl-2 should run 2.1 2.2 then 3.1 3.2 I checked the paradraph formatting between both files and can find no differences. Only difference I can see is that the conversion was .ODT to .TMD and the new file is .TMDX so is that a problem?

I might have solved this. Hierarchical numbering only works if the level-2 paragraph style is based on the level-1 style, not on normal style. Did I miss this in the manual? If not, needs adding there.

CONFIRMED. hierarchical numbered lists only work if the styles used are also hierarchically based.
