Line spacing in bullets

Post by Tardis40 »

I have some rather long areas of text that has bullet points about every 3-4 lines. I'd like to have a bullet setting that increases the line spacing between the text above and start of a new bullet point to make the bullet points stand out more. Is that possible?

I know I can create a new line, delete the bullet and then create a new bullet text but I have several pages of bullet points and hoped I could just change the setting for that setting.

As every bullet starts a new paragraph, you can solve this via paragraph format by inserting an appropriate paragraph spacing before.

Thank you. I hadn't thought of that.

Funny, isn't it, how our preferences differ?
That must be why they’re called ‘preferences!’

Your member “Tardis40” would like a slightly larger line space immediately before a first bullet point, to make the bullet list more distinctive. I prefer the exact opposite.

I always fiddle with paragraph settings make line spaces visibly slightly smaller immediately before a first bullet point. This is to join the bullet list more obviously to its ‘parent' paragraph above. I also also slightly increase the list’s separation it from the paragraph that follows.

I for one would find it really, REALLY helpful to have a global setting that could be used to obtain automatic slight widening or tightening of line spaces by some +% or -% immediately above and immediately below every bullet point list in a document. It is these kinds of attention to every tiny detail of users’ needs that lifts SoftMaker Office into a class above its competitors.

Go to the Format > Paragraph dialogue. Scroll down the list of paragraph style until you find "List bullet." Make changes until you get what you want.
