Unable to remove pages

I've produced a document consisting wholly of Header, Footer and the main document which consists of a table.
After reaching two pages in size I found that saving the document and re-opening gave me FOUR pages - the first two being duplicated as pages 3-4.
If I manualy remove pages 3-4, using 'delete table' or empty contents and then 'remove rows', and then save, close and re-open, then these errant pages re-appear!

We never heard this type of issue in the past. Kindly share the problematic file for our better understanding.
