Quick Reference Chart gone haywire

Post by gitts77 »

Hello
I use your FreeOffice 2024.
The issue I have is with the Planmaker.
I was sometime last year doing a quick reference telephone chart with names and telephone numbers that I frequently use.

I would add names and telephone numbers from time to time, in other words, update it, and use the A-Z sort and filter - A-Z ascending.

I did that on one occasion, and while the names were in alphabetical order, the numbers went all over and not in the correct place, and this was after I saved it, so the numbers to the names were not in the correct position.
This has posed a nightmare, and to this day, I had to start all over again, little by little.

How could I prevent this from happening again.

This kind of sorting error is usually caused by not selecting all the columns involved in the data set you want to sort. In PlanMaker, simply highlighting two (or more) columns doesn't ensure that both will be sorted together. When you tell it to sort, verify in the dialogue box that both columns are designated to be sorted.

Hello Woody
Thanks for responding with Planmaker issue.
This is what I do. Whenever I add names and telephone numbers at random at the bottom of the page, I will go to A-Z Sort Ascending and highlight the entire list of names and numbers, not just what I have added, and when I do that the names only with appear in alphabetical order, while some of the telephone numbers may or may not appear correctly with the names.

I see in Sort A-Z with columns A, B,C,D. Do I use any of these as well to achieve the stated objective?
